The word harp probably developed from an Aryan root meaning to pluck, pick or pull hard.  Early chroniclers often did not distinguish between harp, lyre, or psaltery, so in many instances the word harp may represent a generic class of instru- ments that have at least one open string that is plucked, which probably evolved from a hunter’s bow.

About the Celtic Harp...

The Celtic harps I have built are like the Celtic Harp, which is a traditional instrument of the British Isles that predates the modern concert harp.  It is an appealing instrument producing pretty bell-like tones which lend authenticity to a repertoire of traditional Irish and English music, and add a unique sound to all music played on it.

The Celtic Harp is a naturally acoustic instrument, but can be amplified when the need arises.  It can be easily carried; therefore, can go where a concert harp cannot.  This beautiful instrument is hand-crafted from fine hardwoods.  Its versatility and transportability make the Celtic Harp suitable for a variety of occasions.

The dynamics and exquisite beauty of the Celtic Harp are unsurpassable; my harp music will add a charming, elegant touch to any event.

Celtic Harp music is often characterized as ethereal.  It provides a unique contrast to otherwise "traditional" musical entertainment.  Consider Harp Music for Memorable Events for a variety of occasions.

About the Pedal Harp...

My pedal harp is like the harps that you see in the orchestra.  Pedal harps are made out of maple wood, with beautiful veneers of wood finishes added, and some also have gold leaf applied.  There are seven (7) pedals on every harp which are moved by the harpist's feet; one pedal for each of the seven (7) notes of the scale.  The pedals move discs at the neck of the harp which shorten or lengthen the sounding length of the strings to produce sharps, flats, and naturals.  By using the pedals, the harpist can play very chromatic music.
